The SFCC Lady Roadrunners picked up another region road win on Feb. 6 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. State Fair took control of the game in the second half to win 81-72 over the Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders.
The Lady Roadrunners scored the first two baskets of the game, and then survived a 13-0 run by the Lady Raiders to close out the first half with a 38-35 lead.
“Three Rivers went into their press, which we’d worked on and worked on and we just weren't moving,” said Assistant Coach Kevin Bucher. “Once we got into the flow and started using our speed, it really opened things up."
“Probably the last four minutes of the first half and all the way through the second half, the girls played hard defensively, boxed out and guarded well,” said Bucher.
State Fair (21-2, 6-1 in Region 16) was led by sophomore Brittany Young with 20 points. Freshmen Maci Wisdom contributed 16, and Dahlia Booker registered a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.
State Fair will return home on Feb. 10 to take on North Arkansas College; tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
