Opponent: Three Rivers Classic (SFCC vs. North Ark.)
Location: Poplar Bluff, MO
W 65-47 |
The 18th ranked SFCC Lady Roadrunners traveled to Three Rivers Community College Dec. 5 to take on sixth ranked NJCAA Division II North Arkansas College, whom they defeated 65-47.
"We were able to utilize our speed . . . Once you get by the first tier of their defense you have either, lay-ups or open shots," said Assistant Coach Kevin Bucher.
The Lady Roadrunners were led in scoring by Maci Wisdom with 16 points, including three three-pointers in the first half. Sophomore Brittany Young contributed 10. Dahlia Booker added 10 points, and Hattie Harris added nine.
"Hattie played a really good game. She guarded Jo Beth Williams. She did a great job of defending an All-American," said Bucher.
State Fair held North Arkansas’ Williams to 14 points for the game; she averages just over 23 points per game.
"We wanted to make sure we tried to hold her down,” said Bucher. “The night before, against Three Rivers, she had six or seven three-pointers . . . We were very fortunate to play good defense on her.”
State Fair will travel to Fayette, Missouri, to take on the Central Methodist University JV on Dec. 12.
"Our goal is to get better,” said Bucher. “We have to make sure that we play good defense and rebound . . . This is an opportunity where hopefully we can get some more experience for our post players. They have been doing much better. Now, we're hoping that they're going to be able to start converting and really feel like they're part of helping us out as well.”
