The 18th ranked SFCC Lady Roadrunners used their defense to set the tone in a 91-36 victory over Missouri Valley College JV on Dec. 1. Sophomore BrittanyYoung recorded three steals and six points the first minute and a half to give State Fair a lead that they would never surrender.


"Defensively, I thought our pressure was outstanding," said Head Coach Darren Pannier.


Dahlia Booker had an outstanding game. She led the team in scoring with 21 points and nine rebounds.  She also added five steals and three assists. Freshman Maci Wisdom contributed 15 points and three assists. Freshman Hattie Harris added 10 points and three rebounds and three assists. Young finished the game with 10 points. Freshmen Monica Pyrtle chipped in with eight points, and Ciara Leak had a solid all-around game with seven points, nine assists, six rebounds and five steals.


The Lady Roadrunners (10-1) shot 56% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line. State Fair recorded 23 steals as a team.


The Lady Roadrunners will travel to Three Rivers Community College this weekend to take on two familiar foes on Dec. 4 and 5. They will take on Rend Lake College for the second time in a week. State Fair defeated Rend Lake at the Moberly Classic. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4. State Fair will take on North Arkansas College Lady Pioneers, whom they defeated in November, on Dec. 5 at 1 p.m.
