SEDALIA—State Fair Community College will sponsor a free family connections workshop May 10 called “Read from the Start” that discusses why reading to children from birth is essential to their lifetime literacy.
The seminar, designed for parents, grandparents, caregivers and childcare providers, will meet from 6-8 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center in the Heckart Science and Allied Health Center on the Sedalia campus. There is no charge. Registration deadline is May 7.
The workshop is limited to 20 families. Each family will receive free books to take home.
Free childcare will be provided in the conference center. Please call by May 7 to register children.
Participants will explore how to enjoy reading to and with children and learn the importance of all types of literature in the early years of a child’s life.
