LAKE OF THE OZARKS—Exploring ancient Egypt, Mind-Boggling Math, the Science of Sports, Fractured Fairy Tales, and Veterinary Science are a few of the classes that will be offered this summer through State Fair Community College’s Kids College.
The program, being offered for the first time at the SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks location, offers 16 different five-day enrichment classes for students entering Grades 1-9 next fall.
Classes will begin June 11 and 18 and July 9 and 16 and will meet from 8-10:50 a.m. or 2-4:50 p.m. The cost is $89 per class, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Instructors include Stacy Lawless, Mark Jenkins, Shelley Atkins, Katie Dwiggins, Dee Seaton, and Amy Larrington.
SFCC President Dr. Marsha Drennon said Kids College is based on the philosophy that fun and learning go hand-in-hand.
“We believe we have created an exceptional learning environment that provides students with many opportunities to learn,” said Drennon. “Our program will feature a wide range of unique activities designed to provide students with extraordinary experiences making topics come alive. Our teachers, from area school districts, will take fresh approaches that challenge children and send them back to school with new perspectives and an excitement for learning.”
Kids College also will be offered for the first time this summer at the SFCC-Clinton location and for the second year on the main campus in Sedalia. Courses and class times differ by location.
